Maria Pureza Escaño's "Ode to the Father" Traveling Art Exposition

The Scholarship of Hope

"I would like every Full-Term District, Full-Fledged District and District-in Process to include... the offering of scholarship to the poorest of the poor students (not necessarily only the intelligent). The BLD everywhere, as infividuals or communities must help alleviate poverty through works of charity."
- Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, Archbishop of Jaro and spiritual director of the Bukas-Loob sa Diyos Covenant Community

As the Ode to the Father Traveling Exposition is essentially a praise and thanksgiving event, Maria Pureza Escano has donated all original artworks and prints from the Ode to the Father Collection to raise seed funds for the Scholarship of  Hope  of the Bukas-Loob sa Diyos Foundation.

The Scholarship of Hope is Bukas-Loob sa Diyos Covenant Community's response to the call of its spiritual director Archbishop Lagdameo to provide a lifeline for public school children in the primary level.

Unlike other scholarship programs, the only qualification required of the beneficiaries, besdes being poor, is their desire to get education. There will be no minimum IQ or grade level requirement.

“This collection of paintings is my prayer to God thus God, already, is the owner of these works. I am just following His leading to give these works to the needy, these children who need and want education but could not have it. It is my fervent hope that these works will bless their lives as God has blessed me with artistic talent and with the opportunity to serve Him through it.” – Maria Pureza Escano

Envisioned to be a countrywide project, the scholarship program was launched in selected BLD GK villages in Villa Paraiso, Paranaque and in chosen elementary schools in BLD Aurora under the AFP-PNP District.

Since tuition is given free in public schools, the BLD SOH will provide school supplies, basic necessities such as slippers, umbrellas and raincoats, materials for school projects and nutritious food.
